What you will learn

In your first two years, you will build a strong, common engineering foundation in math, science, design and engineering fundamentals, on Sexton Campus in Halifax or the Agricultural Campus in Truro. This is the Core Engineering Program all engineering students complete.

In third year, you'll move into electrical engineering, going deeper into power, electronics, control, communications and signal processing, then match your path to your interests with technical electives.

Co-op, labs, and a senior design project

Hands-on learning runs through the program: most courses include lab sessions in our five undergraduate labs and in your final two terms you'll complete a Senior Year Project, designing and building a real solution for a local industry or research client. Choose the five year co-op stream to add three paid, four month work terms with one of our 90+ partner organizations, and get involved through student design teams and the .

  • Choose the 4-year program or the 5-year co-op stream.
  • Use technical electives, including courses from other departments, to focus on what interests you most.

Add a Certificate in Biomedical Engineering alongside your degree.

Optional 5-year co-op stream that includes three paid, 4-month work terms.

Combine your BEng with a BSc or BA in areas like science, arts or biomedical engineering.

Minimum admission requirements

To be considered for admission to this program, you must meet minimum academic criteria:

  1. Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
  2. Achievement of the minimum average for your program of choice.
  3. Completion of Grade 12 English (or equivalent course).

Admission to many É«ÃÃÃÃÖ±²¥ programs is competitive. This means that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
