How it works
The QS rankings measure performance across five categories broken down into nine key indicators that carry different weights. 
- 50 per cent — 'Research and Discovery'  contains two indicators: Academic Reputation (30 per cent) and Citations per Faculty (20 per cent)
- 20 per cent — 'Employability and Outcomes' contains two indicators: Employer Reputation (15 per cent) and Employment Outcomes (5 per cent)
- 10 per cent — 'Learning Experience' contains a single indicator: Faculty Student Ratio (10 per cent)
- 15 per cent — 'Global Engagement' contains three indicators: International Faculty (5 per cent), International Research Network (5 per cent), International Students (5 per cent)
- 5 per cent — 'Sustainability' contains a single indicator: Sustainability (5 per cent)
QS scores each indicator relative to the top-performing university, which receives 100 — held by MIT this year. These scores are combined to produce a final score that determines each institution’s global rank.
How Dal stacked up globally

- Academic reputation rose 7 per cent year over year (ranked 432), somewhat offsetting a 5.6 per cent decline in Citations per Faculty (306 globally).Ìý
- Dal retained a perfect score of 100 in International Faculty, ranking 89 globally — a testament to Dal's high degree of internationalization.Ìý
- Employer Reputation rose 4.6 per cent (ranked 557), while Employment Outcomes fell 3.5 per cent (ranked 471).
- Sustainability remained a consistent strength, rising more than 3 per cent for a rank of 107.Ìý
