National leaders stay put

OTTAWA (CIS) 鈥� There are no changes at the top this week in the CIS cross country, basketball, hockey and volleyball national rankings.
The Guelph Gryphons (women鈥檚 and men鈥檚 cross country), McMaster Marauders (women鈥檚 basketball & men鈥檚 volleyball), Ottawa Gee-Gees (men鈥檚 basketball), Montreal Carabins (women鈥檚 hockey), UNB Varsity Reds (men鈥檚 hockey) and Alberta Pandas (women鈥檚 volleyball) all maintain their pole position.
In cross country, the top-ranked Gryphons will have home field advantage on Saturday in Guelph as they look to extend their remarkable streaks of 10 consecutive CIS women鈥檚 team titles and nine straight men鈥檚 banners. While the Guelph women easily defended their OUA conference crown on Oct. 31 in Waterloo, the Gryphons edged Windsor by a single point in the men鈥檚 standings.
NOTE: The CIS soccer championships also take place this week 鈥� from Thursday to Sunday - at UBC (women) and York (men). The Laval women and York men, who topped the final weekly rankings of the season last Tuesday, earned the top seed for the eight-team tournaments.
