Experiential Learning and Outdoor Education are an important part of our learning journey here at Redlands as the programs develop each student鈥檚 ability, understanding and skills needed to excel as part of a holistic education.聽
An Extension of the Classroom
Our Experiential Learning and Outdoor Education programs help develop our students self-awareness and assists them in becoming confident, young leaders. The programs are designed to also develop group dynamics and living skills, positive decision making and use of practical initiatives, confidence communicating with others and leadership qualities that all form a valuable part in the development of our students.
Outdoor Education allows for the extension of knowledge gained in the classroom into safe, yet challenging and adventurous experiences under the expert guidance of the Outdoor Education Group (OEG) and appropriately trained 色妹妹直播 staff. The program demonstrates a logical sequence of activities offering a progression of physical and mental challenges which are skills based, experiential and build on the previous years鈥� experiences.
Year 9 Moonbah
Program
In 2025 we proudly launch a new immersive learning experience for Year 9 students at our High Country Campus in Moonbah, near Jindabyne. The Moonbah Program aligns with our Vision of inspiring students to achieve life readiness and our Strategic Driver of supporting and challenging students to achieve personal excellence through programs and pathways.
From 2025, our Year 9 students will have the opportunity to spend either Term 1 or Term 2 in this immersive residential program that provides opportunities for self-discovery, collaborative learning, building relationships and community mindedness. 聽
In developing the Moonbah Program, we have drawn upon our experience in successfully delivering our Winter School for 27 years and comprehensive Outdoor Education programs for more than 40 years. We have also drawn upon the best of experiential and immersive learning programs from other local and global independent schools.
Winter School
Redlands Winter School is a nine-week residential program based at the Redlands High Country Campus, in Jindabyne. It operates during Term 3 and is open to students in Year 10. The residential program provides the opportunity for interested students to combine academic study with snow sports training, experiencing Term 3 at the Redlands High Country Campus at Jindabyne in the Snowy Mountains, New South Wales.
With a combination of snowsports, academics and experiential learning, Winter School is designed to progressively enhance and build important life skills through living and working in a community. Winter School is a unique opportunity for students to take responsibility for themselves, gain an understanding of the needs of others within in a community and work towards social, academic and personal goals in a challenging and supportive residential environment.
Academic and On-Snow Program
Students will undertake on-snow training for a total of 11 hours per week at Thredbo. Instructors of appropriate standard and experience are selected by arrangement with Thredbo Ski and Snowboard School. They will also follow a full academic program of core and elective subjects, which includes the completion of all set homework, assignments and tests.
Redlands Camps
Experiential outdoor education provides a stimulating complement to the traditional classroom environment. From Years 2 to 11, all students are involved in camps, where residential-style experiences are conducted in a sequential learning program in a wide range of environments throughout New South Wales.
Developing Young Leaders
The camps that are a part of the Redlands outdoor education program help develop our students awareness of oneself, group dynamics and living skills, positive decision making and use of practical initiatives, confidence communicating with others and leadership qualities that all form a valuable part in the development of our students.
A Variety of Locations
Camps are held at a variety of locations in New South Wales, including the Royal National Park, Kangaroo Valley region, Myall Lakes National Park, Canberra, Galston Crosslands and Redlands High Country Campus outside Jindabyne in the Snowy Mountains.
The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award
All students from Year 9 onwards have the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. This is a balanced, non-competitive program of voluntary activities that encourages personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, self-responsibility and service to the community. 聽
Each year approximately 60 色妹妹直播 students participate in聽the Bronze level, 20聽students the Silver level and 20聽students the Gold level.
Redlands High Country
Campus
The Redlands High Country Campus in Jindabyne in the Snowy Mountains region offers the greatest array of possibilities for both curriculum fieldwork and experiential learning. The campus is utilised for both outdoor education and also our Winter School, providing students a unique opportunity to combine their studies with routine snowsports training.聽
